College for Kids - FAQ

  • What are the eligibility requirements for the Academic Enrichment strand?

Students must meet at least one of the following criteria to the eligible for the College for Kids Enrichment program:  1) have been identified for/participate in a Gifted and Talented Program in his/her school district, or 2) have scored at the 90th percentile rank or above on a standardized achievement test (ITBS or ITED) in at least one of the following:  reading total, science total, math total, complete composite/core total.

  • What are the eligibility requirements for the Art/Fine Arts strand?

Students must be nominated by a certified fine arts teacher in his/her district and meet both of the following criteria to be eligible for the College for Kids Art program:  1) demonstrated exemplary fine arts performance, and 2) have the ability to work cooperatively in a classroom setting.

  • What is the cost of College for Kids?

Each session costs $190 per student.  Students have the option of registering for one or both College for Kids sessions. 

  • How many classes can I take?

Students will be enrolled in three classes for either the June or the July session.  Each class meets each day, Monday through Friday, for one hour.  No part time registrations (one or two classes) will be accepted.

  • How will I know if I am accepted?

Students will receive an official acceptance letter and packet of information during the last week of April.

  • Do you offer transportation?

No.  Transportation to and from College for Kids (Coe College) is the responsibility of the participant.  Many schools provide bus transportation for a nominal fee.  Schools will also be provided the names of any College for Kids students interested in carpooling. Please contact your school for transportation information. 

  • Are there any scholarships or discounts available?

No.  College for Kids does not provide any scholarships or discounts toward registration fees.  We recommend that you call your school district office, as they may know of school or community resources for financial assistance.
