STEP 2. Consider the possible careers in each pathway in relationship to your interests, abilities, and talents.
The six career pathway pages on this site provide information for each career pathway, including:
- Categories or types of occupations that are found in each career pathway
- Lists of occupations for each subgroup.
While reviewing the six career pathways, make a list of occupations that you would like to learn more about. Next, use career information resources to look up those occupations that you have listed. One helpful resource is the Occupational Outlook Handbook. This is a national publication that usually gives up to two pages of description about an occupation, plus a list of related occupations. Other good resources include Chronicle Guidance, the Encyclopedia of Careers, and Occupationa1 Guidance. Your school may have a career computer information system, such as CHOICESTM. Your counselor can help find these resources and suggest others that you may want to use.
As you investigate each career, think about how it matches your interests, abilities, and talents. Consider how it relates to the career pathway you ranked highest in the Career Pathways Survey.
