Occupational and Physical Therapy Services at Grant Wood AEA
|
Grant Wood AEA offers a variety of occupational and physical therapy services in an effort to enable every student to benefit from a free and appropriate public education in the least restrictive environment. Infants and toddlers are served in their natural environments. Services are focused on meeting the demands of the educational or natural environment and may occur at many levels. Therapists work closely with teachers, paraeducators, families, and caretakers to provide the maximum success for all students, ages birth through 21 years old.
Occupational therapists work primarily toward goal areas in Activities of Daily Living to include feeding, dressing, hygiene skills and domestic living skills, as well as educational and work activities such as fine motor, visual motor, functional communication, positioning, pre-vocational tasks, socialization, play and leisure skills.
Physical therapists work primarily toward the goal areas of mobility, transitional movements, posture, and positioning.
