The Grant Wood AEA Business Office can provide assistance with school finance issues, the Certified Annual Report (CAR) and with preparation of school budgets.
Bus Driver Certification and Inspection Forms
School districts may contact the Grant Wood AEA Business Office to receive Bus Driver Certification and Bus Chassis Inspection forms.
Grant Wood Computer Services provides software solutions to Iowa AEA's and LEA's. Software includes PowerSchool student records, Grant Wood Accounting and Payroll, On-Line Assessment, IMS, network support, as well as other software programs, custom programming as well as consulting and support for all applications.
Cooperative Purchasing
Through statewide coordination, schools can receive aggressive discounts on purchases of computer peripherals, audio-visual equipment, supplies, media and technology resources, equipment, paper, janitorial supplies, athletic supplies, food and more.
Crisis Communication
Throughout the school year, many crises and emergencies can occur. As a result, it's crucial to have a written emergency plan, outlining communication procedures, and strategies for informing parents and news media. Agency staff can provide samples of district plans and suggestions for an effective emergency plan.
Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM)
Teams are available to provide immediate assistance to local schools in times of crisis or traumatic events, and to help schools plan for such events. For additional information or to contact a CISM Team:

Enrollment figures for public and nonpublic schools and an analysis of historical enrollment trends and projections are available.

Home School (Competent Private Instruction)
The agency has a legal responsibility to certify that children being taught in private settings, such as home schools, are receiving competent instruction. Standardized tests for the children are administered annually at the agency.

News Media Relations
The GWAEA Communications Office offers support for the development of news releases, public service announcements, and other news media relations activities.
The GWAEA On-line Assessment System is an Internet tool, which facilitates the district's collection, analysis, interpretation and reporting of student assessment data. The assessment system may be used to generate a number of reports, including some required in the Annual Progress Report (APR).
Organizational Development
Services such as strategic planning, shared decision-making, school improvement planning, learning organizations, systems thinking, total quality management, problem-solving and leadership development are available upon request. Agency staff will coordinate and facilitate community forums, planning sessions, and information campaigns.
Reorganization Studies
By law, area education agencies must prepare and approve a reorganization plan for any district within their areas, which have fewer than 350 students. The Grant Wood AEA Reorganization Plan, in addition, offers a great deal of data on school districts in the area.
Strategic and School-Community Planning
Certified planners will assist districts with organizing and facilitating a strategic plan within their communities.
Grant Wood AEA houses the computer system that arranges substitutes for teachers. The Substitute Employee Management System (SEMS) is used by the Anamosa, Cedar Rapids, College Community, Metro Catholic, Linn-Mar, Marion, Mount Vernon, and Springville school districts, Summit Schools and EduCare. The SEMS Help Desk is staffed between 7-11 a.m. on school days.
