Grant Wood AEA’s annual summer education program, College For Kids, begins today, June 20, at Coe College. Classes will be held Monday through Friday during June and July.
Grant Wood AEA’s College for Kids is in its 29th year of offering summer advanced level academic and fine arts courses in the college setting to eligible students in gifted talented programs who have completed 6th, 7th or 8th grade. Through the Grant Wood AEA College for Kids experience, students are offered enriched and specialized curricula, and have the opportunity to further explore a hobby or a topic of interest not typically available in middle school general education.
Grant Wood Area Education Agency is one of nine Iowa area education agencies (AEAs) chartered to provide equity in educational programs across the state of Iowa, and GWAEA’s team of 500 employees combines their efforts to support 32 K-12 public school districts, 22 accredited nonpublic schools, a number of preschools and daycare centers, as well as families of infants and toddlers. Every program and service at GWAEA is concretely focused on meeting agency goals of increasing the academic performance of all students, increasing the percentage of students who perform at the proficient level, and students’ acquisition and application of 21st century skills and knowledge.
