Grant Wood AEA Announces Retirement of Agency's Chief Administrator
Joe Crozier to retire in June, 2018
Grant Wood Area Education Agency Chief Administrator Joe Crozier announced his plans to retire from his current position during the agency’s Board of Directors meeting last week.
Crozier has supported East Central Iowa school districts in his current role since July 2011. Previously, Crozier was the chief administrator at Great Prairie AEA in southeast Iowa for nine years. His professional experience also includes several educational positions including high school teacher, elementary and secondary principal, and superintendent before working with the AEAs.
Grant Wood AEA Board President Jim Green commented, "Joe has been an outstanding professional, mentor, teacher, and leader for the AEA, and has personally dedicated himself to the growth of service agencies and the support they provide for children. He has been a strong leader for our organization and is well respected with schools, administrators, and in organizations spanning educational service delivery systems for the state.”
"While the Iowa Code empowers AEAs to provide hundreds of services each day for the students, teachers, administrators, and families in Iowa schools, it’s leadership from individuals like Joe within the AEAs that ensures the consistent, student-focused, innovative delivery of these services."
Crozier graduated from Graceland University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Studies and holds graduate degrees from Truman State University and Drake University. Crozier has served as the President of the School Administrators of Iowa, and is past president for the national Association of Educational Service Agencies, an organization that, in 2014, awarded Crozier the Justus A. Prentice Award. This national award acknowledged Crozier's contributions through executive leadership in the advancement of regional educational service agency programs at the regional, state, and national levels.
The Grant Wood AEA Board of Directors will begin a search for candidates this winter.
