Grant Wood AEA Receives "Top Workplaces" Recognition for 6th Consecutive Year
Agency is ranked 6th best large workplace in the state
Grant Wood Area Education Agency received designation as one of Iowa’s Top Workplaces for the 6th consecutive year in the Sept. 15, 2019 issue of The Des Moines Register. Grant Wood AEA was recognized as the sixth highest ranking organization in the 'large employer' category. Grant Wood AEA’s leadership team accepted the award in Des Moines on Sept. 12.
“It is an honor for Grant Wood AEA to receive this recognition for six consecutive years,” said John Speer, Grant Wood AEA Chief Administrator. “Our agency’s mission is to ensure success for all learners, and our staff support this mission each day through their work assisting students and families.”
More than 185 employers participated in this year's survey, representing a combined sample of 75,932 employees. For this year's winners list, 135 Iowa employers earned recognition as a Top Workplace based on employee feedback. This year 88 percent of Grant Wood AEA staff completed the survey, and the agency's overall score remained similar from our previous surveys.
This year, Energage, the organization that independently conducts the survey, also recognized special award winners based on standout scores on specific survey topics. Grant Wood AEA received special recognition based on employee responses to the statement, "I get the formal training I want for my career." Grant Wood AEA was chosen for this special recognition due to the 'standout scores' our organization received in this category.
Grant Wood AEA is one of nine intermediate educational service organizations in Iowa and employs more than 500 staff. Those staff support 32 school districts in Benton, Cedar, Iowa, Johnson, Jones, Linn and Washington counties.
