K-12 Physical Educators

This course will focus on activities and approaches to enhance physical education programming. Participants will actively engage in activities and demonstrate their knowledge in implementing activities and ideas within physical education programs and classrooms. Innovative games, sports, fitness activities and adaptations, team building, instructional techniques, behavior management, evaluation methods and equipment innovations will be presented. Inclusive practices will be highlighted.

Monday, June 5, 2017
Presenter: Andy Pickett, USGames OPEN Curriculum
Teachers will examine how OPEN fortifies and supports current strategies to ensure student learning and create a positive movement environment.
Curricular Units to be explored:
K-2: Ball handling, Dance, Foot Skills, Locomotor and Manipulative Skills, Parachute, Volley and Striking Skills
3-5: Basketball, Invasion Games, Jump Rope and Soccer
MS: Creative Fitness: Open 8 Challenge, Rugby, Circus Arts, and Round Net Skills
HS: Creative Mode Fitness, Tai Chi and Badminton

Tuesday June 6, 2017
Presenter: Ann Griffin and Guest Experts
Topics: Inclusive practices, universal design, area adapted physical education programs and AEA resources.
New: Instant Activities, games, and novel curriculum units: fitness drumming, land paddles, tennis everyone, archery games, IT ROCKS! And more.
