Target Audience: K-12 Physical Education Teachers,
General and Special Education Teachers

This course will focus on activities and approaches to enhance physical education programming. Participants will actively engage in activities and demonstrate their knowledge in implementing evidence-based practices within physical education programs and classrooms. Technology use in physical education will be highlighted and infused throughout the workshop. Innovative games, sports, fitness activities, evaluation methods and equipment innovations will be presented.

Join Tanner Roos to learn how to make technology and online resources work for you in #PhysEd. You will be given time to explore and create things that will be useful right away in your classroom. Roosco-hosts "Let’s Talk #PhysEd with Jason and Tanner," a YouTube talk show that interviews the leading minds in Physical Education. Tanner also serves as the editor of Cap’n Pete’s Power PE, PE Pirate Scroll. In his 15th year of teaching, you can connect with him on Twitter at @MrRoosPE.

Presenter: Jo Dixon, National Trainer, LET’S ROAR IOWA!

Jo (Jonette) Dixon, @bactive2day, has taught Physical Education for 20 years at the middle school and high school levels in Colorado and Missouri. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education with a Health Education minor, as well as, a master’s degree in Exercise and Sport Science (Physical Education Pedagogy) from the University of Central Missouri. She currently teaches at Lesher Middle School, an International Baccalaureate World School. She is part of the Welltrain Cadre Team, providing professional development to teachers at the local, state and national levels in Highly Effective K-12 Physical Education teaching, best practices, assessment, and social/emotional learning (SEL). She was the Missouri 2004 Middle School Physical Education Teacher of the Year, and the Central District 2005 Middle School Physical Education Teacher of the Year. She also received the 2015 Distinguished Service Award, 2016 Pathfinder Award for Shape Colorado and was the 2013 Lesher Rotary Teacher of the Year. She has coached softball, basketball, track and field, and cross country at the middle school and high school levels, and is also a certified high school basketball official.
