New Faces in the Grant Wood AEA Media Center: Mary and Kerry
Two new faces are greeting visitors who walk into Media Center at Grant Wood AEA. Meet Mary and Kerry, two new staff members who joined GWAEA in November 2018.
Mary Kray (left) brings with her experience in management as a former Catering and Dining Manager for Marriott Corporation at St. Luke’s Hospital, and education, having recently spent 22 years as a preschool teacher at All Saints Elementary in Cedar Rapids.
Since starting her new role, Mary has helped many GWAEA staff, school district staff, and home-school families in the Teacher Work Center (TWC) and with Creative Services. She is eager to expand the use and accessibility of the TWC.
“I am excited to be in this new position and look forward to meeting and helping everyone. There are so many new items in the TWC that I would like to introduce to everyone. I am open to any new ideas and would love to hear from you,” Mary said.
A few weeks later, Kerry Jones (right) joined our team. Having spent 15 years at ACT and the past 20 years as a program assistant at the University of Iowa Alumni Association, Kerry also comes to GWAEA with experience in academic settings.
Kerry is excited to be able to use what she learned in her past as a foundation in the Media Center while she continues to learn in her new role. Helping teachers find resources such as boxed books to use in their classroom, resetting passwords, and extending due dates on borrowed materials are just a few of the ways Kerry supports teachers and GWAEA staff.
“I am most looking forward to the knowledge I will gain from what all the GWAEA provides our schools, educators, students, and parents. I am interested in seeing how the Media Center and staff play a role across the district in assisting with education. Also, I am anxious to meet the GWAEA staff and everyone who walks through the media center doors.”
Unable to visit the GWAEA Media Center in person? Call the media center, and you will probably hear Mary or Kerry's friendly voices for questions or help.
