Social Emotional Learning Supports for Educators
The social emotional learning and supports for today’s students are continuing to challenge educators and counselors. There are a variety of resources available to help our district partners learn more about systemic supports for these students.
Suicide Prevention Training Available. This training is designed specifically for school personnel who are required to have training on prevention, intervention and postvention of suicide. The training is designed to meet the requirements of House file SF 2113. The module is now available on the AEA PD Online Learning System.
SEL Resources from Grant Wood AEA’s Media Center
The Media Center at Grant Wood AEA provides quality service and materials to educators in the Grant Wood AEA service area to support success for all learners. We’ve just updated our resources for Social Emotional Behavior and Mental Health supports, including:
"Making good choices" nonfiction book set
Today’s educators need to cover all the BASES in developing and applying support systems for students. The Grant Wood AEA BASES Conference will highlight ways to integrate behavior, academic, social and emotional support systems for students by presenting best practices and research on student behavior and social emotional support systems.
New External Reports and Resources
- Understanding Anxiety in Children and Teens Report: Child Mind Institute's annual Children’s Mental Health Report brings together thought-provoking information on child and adolescent mental health, based on reliable studies and emerging research. The subject this year is anxiety – the most common yet most misunderstood mental health issue in children and adolescents.
- CASE's District Resource Center contains resources for the systematic implementation of social and emotional learning by school districts
- Resources from Please Pass the Love, including School Mental Health Literacy course and Midwest School Mental Health Conference.
