Trainers are available through Grant Wood AEA to provide Child & Youth Mental Health First Aid training in your district.

This training focuses on how to help students experiencing a mental health, addiction challenge or crisis. The course introduces common mental health challenges for children, ages 5-12 or youth, ages 12-18, reviews typical development, and teaches a five-step action plan for how to help students in both crisis and non-crisis situations. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, substance use, disorders in which psychosis may occur, disruptive behavior disorders, and eating disorders.

This training can be offered for up to 30 participants in a full-day session or across two half-day sessions within a two-week timeframe. Virtual and blended learning options are also available. There is no training cost for school employees to participate. Non-school based participants will be charged $50 to cover material fees.
