School Library Month: And Other April Celebrations
April is National School Library Month! I think we can all agree that this school year has been quite a challenge for everyone. Make sure to thank your school or district librarian for all of the support they have given teachers and students. Many times the school librarian’s work is behind the scenes as they gather resources for upcoming units, help students find just the right book, provide help with passwords, as well as helping to connect the dots between standards, resources, and effective use of technology. Hats off to school libraries and librarians!
In case you missed it, check out our blog post celebrating National Poetry Month (also in April).
Other library related celebrations in April include:
- International Children's Book Day April 2
- National Library Week April 4-10
- Drop Everything and Read Day (DEAR) April 12
Check out these resources that have instant access to books!
- BookFlix (PK-3)
- MackinVIA (PK-12)
- TumbleBooks (PK-5)

Would you rather have physical books for students to hold for the above reading celebrations? Or order some books from the Media Center? We have boxed sets with multiple copies of the same title as well as sets with varied titles. Grant Wood AEA’s van drivers will even deliver them to you at school.
