Parent resource for ASD
Kohls partnered with The Children’s Specialized Hospital in New Jersey to create this “Community Hub” page for Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder and their Families. On this page is an interactive map with various important locations in the community that parents/caregivers visit with children who have ASD. When you ‘hover’ over an area of the map and click on a community link (e.g., ‘Safety and Emergency Services’ or ‘School and Childcare’), it will direct you to resources surrounding that community context.
- Check out their article “Tips for Challenging Behaviors in Public Places”
- They also have social narratives to help prepare children for community outings, like this social narrative on “Going to a Restaurant”
- There are many resources for the home and community for children aged from preschool through 12th grade and beyond, including tips and visual supports for personal hygiene, toileting, and more!
