Summer Book Suggestions

Whether learners are participating in summer reading programs through their public library, the Kernels Summer Reading Program, or they just want to read, let them know that their schools’ MackinVIAs have plenty of options. During distance learning and with more and more 1:1 devices in schools, more and more teachers and students have discovered the ease of using MackinVIA. In fact, as of February 2021, there have been over 75,000 MackinVIA reads!

Take a sneak peek at some of our newest reads:

2021-2022 Iowa Award Books

The goal of the yearly Iowa Award Books program:

  • To encourage children to read more and better books.
  • To discriminate in choosing worthwhile books.
  • To provide an avenue for positive dialogue between teacher, parent, and children about books and authors.
  • To give recognition to those who write books for children.

Get a head start on next year’s nominated books.. Read as many as you would like and vote for your favorite next winter! Grant Wood Area Education Agency has boxed sets of each collection to borrow as well as titles available in MackinVIA. Both ebooks and audiobook versions were added when available.
