Imaginative Landscapes

Daily activities will include practices to spark your imagination with new ideas, such as: immersive nature hikes, plein air drawing, sketchbook inspiration, and experimental approaches in the stu- dio using drawing and painting techniques. A variety of drawing and painting surfaces will also be explored. Each day will include a demonstration and discussion of a topic, followed by plenty of participant’s work time. Clay and the American Raku Processes

June 12-16, 2023  from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

This class will focus on learning hand-building and wheel-throwing techniques that can be used to teach ceramics to students of any age, K - 12 can learn and be successful. Advanced Wheel throwing techniques will also be discussed. The class will also focus on the Raku process. Participants will explore traditional Raku, Horsehair Raku, and Naked Raku. Participants will create their own ceramic art works using the hand-building and wheel-throwing techniques demonstrated in this class; they then will patriciate in Raku firings to experience the Raku processes. Ample studio time will be provided. Guest artist: Kirk Niehouse
