Grant Wood AEA Leadership Announcements
Grant Wood Area Education Agency is pleased to announce additions and changes to its leadership team for the 2020-2021 school year.
Melissa Grennan accepted the position of Early Education Administrator. Melissa is a GWAEA Emergent Literacy Consultant, and served as a Speech-Language Pathologist for almost 14 years with the College Community and CPU school districts. Melissa also has experience serving as a Speech-Language Pathologist at ChildServe in Johnston.
Sarah Svejda accepted the position of Facilitator. Sarah's background includes teaching for EduCare at Tanager Place, and in various roles supporting the Cedar Rapids' district off-site programs including CITE, AEC, and the Polk Alternative Education Program. She served as a Secondary Special Education Instructional Strategist in the Cedar Rapids Community School District before joining Grant Wood AEA in 2017 as a Special Education Consultant.
Grant Wood AEA has extended offers to three external candidates for regional administrator positions. These leadership positions serve as a liaison for school districts to GWAEA programs, services, and staff. The regional facilitator connects districts with educational support specific to their needs.
The agency is pleased to welcome Danielle Donnelly, Sam Hostetler, and Ann Norton to these positions.
Danielle Donnelly is currently serving as a principal with the Independence Community School District's East Elementary. She previously worked as Director of School Improvement and Early Childhood Center Director with the Independence Schools. Danielle also has experience as the Iowa Safe and Supportive Schools Grant Coordinator, a PBIS coach and a history teacher with the Waterloo Schools.
Sam Hostetler is currently serving as a secondary Associate Principal at Bloomington Public Schools in Minnesota. Sam has experience as a Dean of Students and an Emotional Behavior Response/Special Education teacher and case manager in Minnesota and Colorado. At GWAEA, Sam will be the Offsite Administrator and have oversight responsibilities for all of our off-site programs.
Ann Norton is the K-12 School Improvement Coordinator and Curriculum Director for Maquoketa Valley Community School District. She has worked in various educational positions in Iowa including elementary classroom teacher, Title 1 reading coordinator, curriculum coach, and elementary principal.
Chief Administrator John Speer added, “We are excited to welcome Danielle, Sam, Ann, Melissa, and Sarah to our Grant Wood AEA leadership team."
All positions have been approved by the Grant Wood AEA Board of Directors, and will become effective July 1, 2020.
