Upcoming Substitute Authorization Classes – Substitute Teaching in Iowa
Substitute teaching in Iowa is a fulfilling and flexible career opportunity! This course is designed to meet the requirements for substitute authorization, addressing the four components required by the Board of Educational Examiners including classroom management, diversity, ethics, and strategies for learning. Upon successful completion of the program the participant may apply to the Board of Educational Examiners for authorization to substitute teach. Iowa licensure also requires state and federal background check. Receiving a substitute authorization will allow an individual to substitute Pre-K-12 for no more than 10 consecutive days in a 30-day period in one job assignment.
Full attendance, completion of all assignments and five hours of online instruction is required for this class. Additional fees for licensure application and a background check will be required when application is made to the Board of Educational Examiners.
LOCATION
ALL SESSIONS WILL BE VIRTUAL via Zoom and online modules.
AUDIENCE
Persons with B.S. or B.A., A.A. or 60 semester hours from a regionally accredited institution outside of education who want to substitute Pre-K-12, and certified paraeducators who want to become authorized to substitute teach in the special education classroom to which they are assigned.
