In this session, participants will discover how to effectively teach the five components of reading (phonemic awareness, phonic, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension) to English Learners. This session demonstrates best practices for teaching foundational reading skills and provides strategies educators can implement immediately.

Experienced Multilinguals (Grades 4-12)

This full day, in-person workshop is based on Tan Huynh’s and Beth Skelton’s book “Long Term Success for Experienced Multilinguals”. The authors suggest that experienced multilinguals are capable of reaching the highest academic standards under optimal conditions. The workshop will guide you in cultivating these conditions in your dedicated English language development classes, general education classes and in sheltered or co taught content classes. The target audience is educators who support English Learners in grades 4-12.
